The Zircon Stud Sensor Pro is a popular stud finder that customers deemed effective on textured surfaces, lath and plaster walls and ceiling joists. Commonly, the stud finder is powered by ordinary 9-volt batteries, making it practical and easy to replace. The unit self-calibrates upon powering up through the “trucal” green LED, and the deep-sensing option can locate studs that are 1 ½ inch deep. Though it has not been tested on hardwood floors, and one customer suggested using a more sensitive radar. In terms of customer reviews, a majority gave the stud finder a positive evaluation.
