Crafted with a wedge-shaped blade and a high centerline, this axe is specifically designed to prevent sticking while splitting wood.

It features 25-degree convex bevels/bit that meet ANSI Standards for bit hardness, guaranteeing exceptional performance. Council Tool implements its own internal standards, calling for a tempered bit hardness of Rc 48-55, which provides even more strength and durability. The poll and eye walls remain in the original as forged condition, while the head is coated with boiled linseed oil for rust prevention and a sporty finish. The 28 in. straight American hickory handle of this Council Tool Axe is dried to below 10% moisture content to minimize shrinkage and prevent loosening.

During assembly, approximately 1/2 in. of the handle's overall length is removed for a perfect fit. The axe head is then hydraulically seated onto the handle and secured with a traditional wood and steel wedge. Not only does this axe excel at splitting wood, but it also doubles as a faller's axe.

The chamfered poll corners and radius corners all around the outer poll face ensure that it doesn't cause excessive damage while driving HDPE plastic felling wedges.
