The Subaru 15208AA15A Oil filter is a genuine OEM filter made in the USA by Purulator, it has a standard thread size and is designed to fit perfectly on most Subaru models including the 2011 Forester 4-cylinder non-turbo, 2019 Crosstrek, 2017 Legacy Sport, 2018 XV and the 2012 Impreza, and it meets manufacturer specifications. The filter has a gasket, which requires a couple of drops of oil dampening before installation. For some customers, installation was easy enough to do by hand, but for other engines, the old filter may require pliers for removal. The new filter only requires a 1/4 turn to make it snug, but according to a few customers, overtightening can be problematic. The manual recommends replacing the filter every 6,000 miles for the Crosstrek. Overall, many buyers reiterated the importance of using OEM parts, particularly the filter, to ensure proper engine function and avoid expensive damage caused by counterfeit models. Nevertheless, one customer complained that the filter they received was damaged and poorly repackaged.
