With eight special seals, it prevents water and dust intrusion into the lens interior, making it a reliable choice for outdoor shooting when paired with a Pentax weather-resistant digital SLR camera body.This lens also incorporates a newly developed ring-type ultrasonic motor SDM, which generates almost twice the torque of conventional lens-driving motors. This powerful driving force ensures smooth, high-speed shifting of the heavy, multi-element rear lens group during focusing operations. The lens also features a nine-blade rounded diaphragm that produces a natural bokeh effect at up to F2.8 aperture setting, while minimizing the streaking effect of point light sources. Additionally, the Quick-Shift Focus System allows for instant switching from auto-focus to manual-focus operation, and the front surface of the lens is treated with a Super Protect (SP) Coating to effectively repel water and grease.
