This soldering iron is able to plug into a regular wall outlet and can be used to solder 12/10 gauge wires, but is not suitable for circuit boards. Preheating the place to be soldered with a heat gun is recommended when soldering copper items. The tip is removable and can be changed. Replacement tips are also available. However, the iron may not be able to solder 28 gauge sheet metal outdoors under windy conditions in a timely manner. The iron is made in China and has received mixed reviews. Some customers have had issues with the iron breaking or not getting hot enough, while others have found it to be a quality product. It may be heavy and have a large tip, making it difficult to use for certain tasks.
