Customer Questions & Answers

  • Question: What is the composition of the Pine Tree Farms 8003 Nutsie Classic Seed Log?

Answer: The Pine Tree Farms 8003 Nutsie Classic Seed Log is made from a blend of high-quality seeds including sunflower seeds, corn, and peanuts. This combination is specially formulated to attract a variety of birds such as blue jays, woodpeckers, and finches. These nutrient-rich seeds provide essential energy for birds, making it an excellent choice for backyard birdwatching. Situating the seed log in a bird feeder or on a platform allows the birds to enjoy this tasty treat, thereby enhancing your outdoor experience.
  • Question: How long does a Nutsie Classic Seed Log last in outdoor conditions?

Answer: The longevity of the Nutsie Classic Seed Log depends on various factors such as the number of birds in your area and environmental conditions. Typically, the log can last anywhere from a few days to a couple of weeks. If you have a busy feeding station with many birds, they may consume it more swiftly. It’s recommended to monitor the log and replace it as needed to ensure the birds continue to have a reliable food source, thus fostering an active birdwatching environment in your backyard.
  • Question: Is the Nutsie Classic Seed Log safe for all types of birds?

Answer: Yes, the Pine Tree Farms Nutsie Classic Seed Log is designed to be safe for a wide variety of birds. It does not contain artificial additives or harmful ingredients, making it suitable for species such as cardinals, sparrows, and chickadees. This seed log caters to diverse dietary needs while attracting multiple bird types, which enriches your birdwatching experience. By providing a safe food source, you help maintain the health of local bird populations.
  • Question: How should I store the Nutsie Classic Seed Log before using it?

Answer: For optimal freshness, it’s best to store the Pine Tree Farms Nutsie Classic Seed Log in a cool, dry place until you are ready to use it. Make sure the log is kept in its original packaging to avoid moisture exposure. Proper storage helps preserve the seeds' nutritional quality, ensuring that when you do use the log, birds receive the freshest ingredients. When ready to install, position it in a feeder designed for seed logs or directly on a platform for birds to access easily.
  • Question: Can I use the Nutsie Classic Seed Log in a suet feeder?

Answer: The Pine Tree Farms Nutsie Classic Seed Log is not designed for use in a suet feeder. It is specifically tailored for use in standard seed feeders or placed directly on feeding platforms. Suet feeders are generally meant for high-fat suet cakes. Utilizing the seed log in the appropriate feeder enhances accessibility for birds, ensuring that they can enjoy the diverse seed blend efficiently. Place it where birds can perch and feed comfortably to maximize attraction.
  • Question: What time of year is best to put out the Nutsie Classic Seed Log?

Answer: The best time to place the Pine Tree Farms Nutsie Classic Seed Log is during the fall and winter months. Birds require additional energy during these colder seasons to maintain their body heat and continue foraging. Additionally, putting out the log in spring can also attract birds looking for nesting materials. By strategically timing your bird feeding efforts, you can enhance bird activity in your area, which creates a lively and natural environment in your backyard.
  • Question: How do I know when the Nutsie Classic Seed Log is empty?

Answer: You can determine that the Pine Tree Farms Nutsie Classic Seed Log is empty when it appears significantly reduced in size or is void of any visible seeds. It’s advisable to check the log regularly, especially during peak feeding times when the activity is high. Once empty, replacing the log will ensure that birds continue to return for nourishment. Keeping a watchful eye on your feeder can help maintain a vibrant birdwatching atmosphere in your outdoor space.
  • Question: Do I need to add anything to the Nutsie Classic Seed Log for better results?

Answer: No additional ingredients are necessary when using the Pine Tree Farms Nutsie Classic Seed Log, as it is already a well-balanced mix designed to attract birds effectively. The carefully formulated blend of seeds provides essential nutrition, making it appealing to various bird species. You can enhance attraction by placing the log in a visible location near natural shelter or shrubs, which also aid birds in feeling secure while feeding.
